PRESIDENT BURTON PLANTS TWO TREES

 

While in Charlotte for the Million Dollar Dinner, President Ron Burton took time out to plant two trees following the long standing tradition of planting friendship trees, started by Founder Paul Harris.

 

CHARLOTTE PRESIDENTIAL TREES

 

On April 22, 1939, Paul Harris, Founder of Rotary planted an English Walnut tree  on The Mint Museum of Art grounds, on behalf of the Rotary International Club.  The leaves of the tree which was planted “have been for the healing of the nations”, according to Rotary founder Harris. The tree and original plaque still resides on museum property.

 

February 24, 1964 Carl Miller, President, Rotary International President planted a Hard Sugar Maple-Acer Saccarum at the Mint Museum

August 21, 1978 Red Maple-Acer Rubrum  at the Mint Museum planted by Clem Renouf, President, Rotary International

October 28, 2004 Glenn Estess, President, Rotary International planted a tree at Central Piedmont Community College

October 19, 2013 Ron Burton, President, Rotary International planted a tree at the Mint Museum
